WHAT THEY DO: Open Hearts Art Center is a nonprofit supportive studio and gallery dedicated to representing and empowering adults with varied abilities to connect to and reach their full potential through the arts. Founded in 2005, OHAC has provided a variety of arts and expression-based classes to differently abled adults in Buncombe County, including painting, ceramics, music, movement and photography. Works are for sale in the Open Hearts gallery in downtown Asheville, as well as shown throughout the year publicly at various exhibits and venues. Artists receive 50% of all sales proceeds, with the other 50% going back into the nonprofit to cover operational costs.
