Western Carolina Medical Society Foundation
WHAT THEY DO: The Western Carolina Medical Society Foundation aims to increase access to health care, fight health inequities and promote wellness in WNC. Our programs include: Project Access®, which provides free or very low- cost health care to low-income, uninsured residents of Buncombe and Madison counties; the WCMS Interpreter Network, providing language services for the Deaf and limited English proficient populations in WNC; the Dr. Charles Blair Health Scholar Fund; the Healthy Healer Program, which offers wellness and self-care resources for medical providers in WNC; and more! Please connect with us to learn more about our work.
As a medical student rotating in clinics across WNC, I cannot emphasize enough how important Project Access is to patients who would otherwise be unable to obtain necessary medical care.—Leeallie Carter, UNC medical student
