Appalachian Wildlife Refuge

WHAT THEY DO: Rescue, rehabilitate, release and relate: This is the mission of Appalachian Wildlife Refuge, a nonprofit that has provided quality care to over 8,500 injured and orphaned wildlife since opening its facility in 2018. AWR supports the wildlife rehabilitation network by helping all native species and educating the community about wildlife conservation and coexistence. They are open every day, so call if you find wildlife in need of help!

The creatures at Appalachian Wildlife Refuge (featured on The Today Show) receive rehab care extraordinaire! Whether they are orphaned or injured, they get the treatment, nutrition and time needed to restore them to their environment. Our precious wildlife are under increasing threat to their survival because of development, human activity and climate change. Appalachian Wildlife Refuge rescues, treats and rehabilitates injured, sick and orphaned wildlife, releasing them back home whenever possible. They are an invaluable resource for compassionate ‘finders’ and for all who believe that wild creatures deserve our protection and care.
