Helping At Risk Kids (HARK), formerly the Guardian Ad Litem Association, Buncombe County
What They Do:
Helping At Risk Kids (HARK) serves Buncombe County’s most vulnerable children and youths: those in court-ordered protective custody, kids aging out of the foster care system and youngsters without stable housing. We fund basic, emergency and child-specific enrichment needs as identified by social workers and school counselors.Matches:
- One generous donor will match the first $5,000 in donations.
- Another generous donor also will match donations, up to $1,000 total.
Drawings:
- Donors who give $100 or more will be entered into a drawing to win a Trader Joe’s gift basket.
- Those who donate $100 or more will be entered into a drawing to win lunch and a wine tasting for eight from Metro Wines.
- Donors who give $100 or more will be entered into a drawing to win a gift basket of gift certificates from Mother Ocean Seafood Market, Mangum Pottery, Wood Tiger Healing Art massage, Crust Never Sleeps bakery, Studio Chavarria hair salon and Michael Hofman porcelain studios.
Health & Human Services is facing significant funding cuts. … While we continue to provide for basic necessities, many of the supports we once offered are no longer possible.
