NAMI Western Carolina

WHAT THEY DO: NAMI Western Carolina is an organization of families, friends and individuals whose lives have been affected by mental illness. NAMI envisions a world where all people affected by mental illness live healthy, fulfilling lives supported by a community that cares. NAMI Western Carolina provides advocacy, education, support and public awareness around mental health. This is done through a combination of peer and family support groups, as well as education programming, all designed to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and to provide a network of hope and healing.

NAMI helped me learn more about what mental illnesses are, to learn I was not alone, and has become a place where I share my experiences and learn methods to deal with difficult situations. I feel supported morally and psychologically, and the most important thing is that NAMI has helped me establish a balance in my daily life and has given me hope for a better tomorrow.
