In August 2014, Eckerd Connects partnered with Caring for Children, which enables both organizations to expand and provide high-quality services to vulnerable children and their families across North Carolina.

Through community forestry programs, landowner workshops and stewardship collaborations, we emphasize sound ecological management. At our 10-year anniversary mark, we have covered over 200,000 acres in stewardship plans and treated 1,000 acres of permanently protected lands for invasive plants.

Homeward Bound believes housing is a human right. Our mission is preventing and ending homelessness in our community through permanent housing and support. Since 2006, we have moved over 2,670 people into housing. In 2024, we had a 96.5% retention rate for clients not returning to homelessness.
We offer programs to transition unhoused neighbors into their own homes, including our AHOPE Day Center, homeless prevention, rapid rehousing, permanent supportive housing and our Welcome Home Donation Center.

Since 2007, Friends2Ferals’ mission has been to provide a long-term solution to feline overpopulation in Buncombe, Henderson and Madison counties. We support a high-volume community program to spay/neuter and vaccinate stray and feral cats, as well as providing additional veterinary assistance for those in need.
Following Tropical Storm Helene, requests for assistance have exploded. At the same time, grant funding has all but dried up, so now we must rely almost exclusively on donations.
To date, we have provided services for over 17,000 cats!
